This tool can be adapted and used by state or local health departments or infection preventionists involved in the investigation of potential transmission of bloodborne pathogens associated with endoscopy procedures in private practice settings, hospitals, or other office-based surgery settings (transmission has been associated with contaminated multidose vials for administration of anesthesia and/or inadequate cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of endoscopic equipment). Endoscopy is not limited to upper GI procedures but may involve bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, upper GI endoscopy, etc.
